Everything you need to know about your spray tan experience
Before Your Appointment

For the best results, exfoliate your entire body 24 hours before your appointment using an oil-free scrub or exfoliating mitt. Shave or wax at least 12 hours prior. On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean, dry skin free of moisturiser, deodorant, perfume, and makeup. Avoid wearing tight clothing or jewellery that may rub against your skin.
Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment. Tight clothing, bra straps, and waistbands can leave marks on your fresh tan. We recommend a flowy dress or loose-fitting pants and a baggy top. Avoid white or light-coloured fabrics as the bronzer guide colour may transfer. Flip-flops or open-toed shoes are ideal.
Yes, but shave at least 12 hours before your appointment -- ideally the night before. Shaving opens your pores, and applying spray tan solution to freshly shaved skin can cause the solution to settle into the pores, creating a spotted or dotted appearance. Waxing should be done at least 24 hours prior.
The active ingredient in spray tan solution, DHA, is generally considered safe for external use during pregnancy. However, we always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider first. Please note the pregnancy question on your intake waiver when booking so we can take extra care with ventilation and product selection.
During Your Appointment
Appointments run from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the package you choose. This includes a quick consultation, skin preparation, the spray application itself, and a setting powder finish. First-time clients should allow a few extra minutes for us to review your skin profile, confirm your desired shade, and answer any questions.
Your session begins with a brief consultation to determine the right shade for your skin tone and preferences. We then prep your skin with a pH-balancing spray and apply barrier cream to hands, feet, and other dry areas. The spray tan is applied using a professional airbrush system for an even, natural finish. We finish with setting powder so you can get dressed immediately and leave feeling confident.
We use premium, plant-based solutions that are free from parabens, sulphates, and artificial fragrances. Our formulas are enriched with skincare-grade ingredients designed to nourish the skin. If you have specific allergies or sensitivities, note them in your skin profile when booking and we can recommend the best solution for you. We always recommend a patch test if you have concerns.

Your rinse time depends on the solution used and what your artist recommends at the appointment -- so always follow their specific guidance.
- Rapid tans develop in as little as 1 to 5 hours. Shorter rinse times give a lighter result; leaving it on the full window gives a deeper finish.
- Classic tans need 8 to 12 hours -- most clients leave them on overnight for the richest colour.
When you do shower, use lukewarm water only -- no soap, body wash, or scrubbing. It is completely normal for the bronzer guide colour to wash off in the rinse; your true tan continues to develop over the next 12 to 24 hours. We will text you a rinse reminder based on your tan and chosen depth so you do not have to watch the clock.
A well-maintained spray tan typically lasts 7 to 10 days, depending on your skin type, preparation, and aftercare routine. The tan fades gradually and evenly as your skin naturally exfoliates. Regular moisturising and avoiding long baths, chlorine, and harsh products will help extend its life.
Moisturise daily with an oil-free, hydrating lotion -- especially after showering. Avoid long, hot baths and swimming in chlorinated pools. Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing. Use gentle, sulphate-free body wash. Avoid exfoliating products, retinols, and AHA/BHA acids on tanned skin. The more hydrated your skin stays, the longer your glow will last.
Minor unevenness is rare with our professional application, but if it does occur, a gentle exfoliation of the affected area followed by moisturiser usually blends things out. If you notice any issues within 24 hours of your appointment, send us a message from your dashboard and we will be happy to help with a complimentary touch-up or advice on how to even things out at home.
Your Account & Profile
No passwords needed. Enter your email and we will send you a secure magic link to sign in. You can also sign in with Google in a single tap, or set up a passkey once you are logged in for instant sign-in from the same device. Your account holds your appointment history, saved cards, wallet credit, and profile preferences.
A passkey lets you sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN -- no email link required. It is faster and more secure than a password. After signing in the first time, visit your account settings and tap "Add passkey." On future visits, you will be signed in with a single tap. You can add passkeys for as many devices as you like.
From your dashboard, open your profile to update your name, phone number, saved addresses, and tanning preferences -- including skin type, preferred solution, desired shade, and any allergies or medications to flag for your artist. You can also save a preferred artist and favourite packages so they are pre-selected next time you book. Keeping this information current helps us tailor every appointment to you.
Before your first appointment you will complete a short digital waiver and skin profile. The waiver covers prep and aftercare acknowledgement, UV awareness, and undress-comfort preferences. The skin profile asks about allergies, medications, skin conditions, and any previous tan experience. Both are signed and stored securely in your account and can be updated any time from your profile page.
Booking & Artists
Pick a package, choose a date and time from live availability, and confirm your contact details. We will verify your phone by text, collect any outstanding waiver or skin-profile questions, and complete payment. You will receive an email confirmation with a unique booking code straight away. If you hit a snag, email hello@tanandglow.ca and we will get you booked.
Yes. When booking, you can browse our artist profiles and select the one you would like. Available times are shown based on each artist's real schedule. Save a preferred artist in your profile and we will default to them on future bookings -- though you are free to switch any time. If your preferred artist is fully booked, we will show the nearest available options.
Open the appointment from your dashboard and tap "Reschedule" or "Cancel." Rescheduling up to 24 hours in advance is free and lets you pick any available time. Cancellations with more than 24 hours notice are free of charge. Inside the 24-hour window, a cancellation fee applies -- see our cancellation policy below for details.
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations and no-shows within the 24-hour window are charged a $20 fee, which covers our artist's held time and is non-refundable. Life happens -- if something unexpected comes up, message us and we will do our best to help.
We are currently offering salon appointments only at our studio inside Ashton House in Port Moody. Mobile appointments may be available in the future -- join our mailing list or follow us on social media for updates.
Payments & Gift Cards
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express through our secure Stripe payment system, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay on supported devices. You can save cards to your account for one-tap checkout in future, and you can combine wallet credit, gift cards, and a card in the same transaction.
Payment is collected at the time of booking to hold your slot. If you reschedule or cancel with more than 24 hours notice, your payment transfers to the new appointment with no fee. Cancellations inside 24 hours are subject to the $20 cancellation fee, which is non-refundable. Full refunds to your original payment method are available for service issues on our end -- reach out and we will make it right.
Purchase a gift card from our site for any package, optionally including add-ons. Your recipient receives an email with a unique 16-character code they can redeem at checkout on any future appointment. Gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and can be applied against any service. If the appointment total is lower than the gift card value, the remaining balance stays on the card for next time.
At checkout, enter your gift card code in the "Gift card" field. The balance is applied instantly and the remainder (if any) can be covered by wallet credit or a card. Gift card codes are case-insensitive and can be entered with or without dashes.
Rewards, Promos & Memberships
Wallet credit is store credit kept inside your account, usable toward any future appointment. You can earn it from eligible packages (credit is added after your appointment completes), promo campaigns, referring a friend, and goodwill credits we might add. Your current balance is shown on your dashboard. Credit does not expire, but is non-transferable and non-refundable to cash.
If a package is eligible for wallet redemption, you will see a "Use wallet credit" toggle at checkout showing your available balance. Turn it on to apply credit to the total -- use as much or as little as you like. Anything remaining is covered by your card or gift card. Credit used is deducted immediately and appears in your wallet history.
We run two kinds of promotions. Promo credits scan a QR code or open a campaign link and we automatically add wallet credit to your account -- just sign in and it is applied. Discount codes are entered in the "Promo code" field at checkout for a percentage off, a fixed amount off, or buy-one-get-one pricing. Each campaign has its own rules (one per customer, new clients only, expiry dates) which are shown on the code itself.
Yes. Our memberships bundle a set number of sessions each month or year at a reduced per-session price, perfect for regulars and special occasions. Included sessions renew each billing period. You can view current membership options on the packages page, and manage or cancel your membership from your dashboard at any time.
Absolutely. Every account has a unique referral code (look for "TG-" followed by six characters) and a shareable link on your dashboard. When a friend books their first appointment using your code, you both get wallet credit once their appointment is complete. Share away -- there is no limit to how many friends you can refer.
Perfect for bridal parties, birthdays, or any group outing. The organizer selects a package and time slot, then invites up to the group size limit by email or shareable link. Each guest creates their own account, completes their waiver, and confirms their spot. Group pricing is applied automatically once you hit the minimum size. Reach out if you have a large group with special requirements and we will coordinate with you directly.
Messaging & Reminders
Every signed-in client has a direct message thread with our team. Open "Messages" from your dashboard to ask about your appointment, share prep questions, or send photos of any concerns. We reply during business hours and your history is saved in one place. For anything urgent, email hello@tanandglow.ca.
You will receive a booking confirmation email right after you book, an appointment reminder by email and text ahead of your visit, and a rinse-time reminder after your session so you know exactly when to shower. A few days later we will send a short feedback request and, when you are due, a friendly rebook nudge. You can opt out of any of these in your notification preferences.
Yes. Our site is a Progressive Web App, which means you can add it to your home screen and launch it like a regular app. On iPhone, tap the share icon in Safari and choose "Add to Home Screen." On Android, open the Chrome menu and tap "Install app." You will get faster loads and a one-tap path to your next appointment.
Policies & Safety
Clients must be at least 16 years of age to receive a spray tan. Those under 18 require written parental or guardian consent and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at their appointment. Please contact us in advance if you are booking for a minor so we can prepare the necessary consent forms.
Please list any skin conditions, allergies, or sensitivities on your skin profile and intake waiver. Conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis may affect how the tan develops in those areas. We can adjust our approach and recommend a suitable solution. If you have a known allergy to DHA or any cosmetic ingredients, we strongly recommend a patch test before your first full session. Your safety and comfort are always our top priority.
Your account uses passwordless sign-in and supports passkeys for strong, phishing-resistant authentication. Payment information is processed by Stripe and never stored on our servers. Waivers, skin profile responses, and contact details are encrypted and only shared with the artist assigned to your appointment. You can request a copy or deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@tanandglow.ca.
