Aftercare: How to Keep Your Glow

Right after your appointment

Your artist will tell you exactly how long to wait before rinsing — it depends on the solution used.

  • Rapid tans develop in 1 to 5 hours. Shorter = lighter, longer = deeper.
  • Classic tans need 8 to 12 hours — most people leave them on overnight for the richest colour.

We'll text you a rinse reminder so you don't have to watch the clock.

Your first rinse

  • Use lukewarm water only — no soap, no body wash, no scrubbing.
  • The bronzer guide colour washes off in the rinse. That's normal — your true tan keeps developing for another 12 to 24 hours.
  • Pat dry gently with a towel — don't rub.

Every day after

  • Moisturise daily with an oil-free hydrating lotion, especially after showering. Hydrated skin fades more evenly.
  • Use gentle, sulphate-free body wash. Skip anything exfoliating.
  • Pat dry, don't rub.
  • Avoid retinols, AHAs and BHAs on tanned skin — they strip colour fast.

What makes a tan fade faster

  • Long hot baths or saunas
  • Chlorinated pools and hot tubs
  • Salt water (ocean swims will shorten your tan)
  • Rubbing or scrubbing with a loofah or exfoliating mitt
  • Harsh soaps and alcohol-based products

How long should it last?

A well-maintained tan lasts 7 to 10 days depending on skin type, prep and aftercare. It'll fade gradually and evenly as your skin naturally turns over.
